The ACIP now recommends a second dose of the 2024-25 COVID-19 vaccine for individuals 65 and older and those moderately or severely immunocompromised, six months after their first dose.
Health care providers are given flexibility to administer additional doses for patients with severe immunocompromised conditions.
CDC data shows only 11.7% of adults had received the updated COVID-19 vaccine by mid-October 2024, with over 25% of adults aged 65 and up vaccinated.
